Paid-access system
The Visualiser
A paid-access inspection and sharpening support system for skate technicians.
The Visualiser gives skate technicians a clearer view of what is happening at the blade. By combining a microscope-camera setup with calibrated on-screen guides, it helps technicians inspect blade position, monitor grind progress, and make more confident sharpening decisions.
It sits inside the wider Lab programme: keeping measurement close to the machine, making first-grind decisions clearer, and helping technicians protect level edges, true-edge completion, and blade profile.

Workshop context
Why better visibility matters
Level edges
Sharpening quality depends on keeping the two working edges consistent across the blade.
Blade condition
Rust, nicks, and old edge damage affect glide, grip, control, and repair decisions.
Profile drift
Every unnecessary pass can shorten blade life or change the blade shape the skater relies on.
Bench routine
Useful inspection has to fit naturally into sharpening work rather than interrupting every adjustment.
How it works
Microscope view, calibrated guides, and bench support
Microscope camera
Adjustable and calibrated bench stand
Web application with calibrated visual guides
Optional job-management integration
Problems addressed
Built around real sharpening problems
Touch-point limitations
Avoid relying only on traditional touch points to centre the blade to the wheel.
Existing uneven edges
See whether the first grind reflects the existing edge condition rather than a clamp-positioning error.
Clamp variance
Reduce repeated unclamping, reclamping, and chasing the level.
Pressure and speed variation
Make grind progress easier to see while the technician controls the pass.
Profile preservation
Visually monitor steel removal and avoid unnecessary profile loss.
True-edge completion
Help detect whether sharpening has reached the true edge, including final edge rounding that may not be visible unaided.
Benefits
- See the blade and wheel relationship more clearly.
- Reduce dependence on touch-point judgement alone.
- Understand whether an uneven first grind reflects the existing edge condition.
- Reduce re-clamping and chasing the level.
- Monitor steel removal along the blade.
- Help preserve the blade profile.
- Confirm that sharpening has reached the true edge.
- Improve technician confidence and customer trust.
- Support repeatable workflows and future QA records.
Commercial access
Access can be offered for a fee or subscription, with terms agreed case by case.
The Visualiser supports inspection and sharpening decisions. Validation claims stay evidence-led and will be updated as formal test work is completed.
